Danny diPietro from Howell, Michigan noticed something strange when driving home with his father on Saturday night.
A garage door was left open in a complex and 10-year-old Danny initially thought a dog may have been wandering around outside in the cold.
When he got home, he asked his mother if they could investigate the house.
It was late at night and super cold out and their garage was open, something just didn’t feel right" young Danny DiPietro told local ABC affiliate WXYZ-TV.
Danny’s mother Dawn brought their family dog for a walk near the complex and realised a person was lying on the ground.
Dawn rushed home to call emergency services while her husband went to bring blankets to cover the elderly woman while they waited for the ambulance to arrive.
Kathleen St.Onge was then brought to hospital and treated for hypothermia.
The 80-year-old had slipped on an icy patch in her garage and had been lying there for over two hours, as she couldn’t get up.
Michigan has been plagued with freezing temperatures over the past week but thankfully Kathleen is now recovering from her ordeal.
Kathleen’s daughter Sandy Mitter was quick to express her gratitude saying, He saved her life, that’s for sure. And I don’t even have the words to say how grateful we are.”
