What's your festival favourite?

A new survey by Just Eat has found that the humble burger is Ireland’s favourite festival food.

With just fifteen days left until Electric Picnic kicks off at Stradbally, the online takeaway delivery service has done some research to find out just what Irish people love to eat at their favourite music festivals.

It turns out that we love traditional festival food with 29 per cent of people claiming burgers are their absolute favourite, followed by chips at 22 per cent and noodles at 21 per cent. It also seems that we are a nation of meat lovers with 77 per cent of those surveyed claiming that they look for a good selection of meat options at a festival.

Eight per cent of respondents opted for veggie options and there has also been an emerging trend among consumers with six per cent choosing gluten free options.

In terms of festival recovery food, it seems that Chinese is the most favoured option with 33 per cent opting for it as their favourite recovery food, while pizza and chipper food follow behind at 21 per cent and 14 per cent respectively.

The survey also found that Irish people are fairly budget conscious when it comes to festival food. On average, 78 per cent of people aim to spend €10 to €20 daily on festival food with only 15 per cent looking to spend a whopping €30 to €50 on their festival food.

Fifty-six per cent claim that at a festival any time is “dinnertime” as all rules go out the window and a further 36 per cent of those surveyed saying dinner time arrived once they get to the top of the queue. It also seems that we are an obedient bunch with 83 per cent of those surveyed saying they wait in the queue and only a cheeky nine per cent admit to skipping.

The three-day festival is now sold out but as part of their sponsorship of the event, Just Eat are giving away VIP tickets over at www.justeat.ie.
