22 Of The Greatest TV Theme Tunes Of All Time

Admit it, you know all of the words...

Sue Murphy

We all have our favourite TV shows but we also have our favourite theme tunes for those series. The theme tune defines everything that is going to happen for the rest of the episode, it manages to sum up the characters and the rest of the show. Here are 22 of our favourites…

1. Friends

Obviously top of the list, Friends had one of the greatest theme tunes in existence. Everyone still loves that intro.

2. Cheers

Another favourite of basically everyone who has ever watched TV, Cheers is certainly one of the best.

3. Frasier

It’s not really about the intro here, it’s more about the outro, but it’s still a really good one.

4. Happy Days

Because it’s Happy Days? HAPPY!

5. Buffy the Vampire Slayer

We dare you not to head bang along to this.

6. Angel

Moody. Just incredibly moody.

7. Dowton Abbey

It’s that beautiful piano intro, just perfect.

8. Game of Thrones

If you’re looking to give a boost of epicness to your day, this is the theme tune to listen to. Be warned though, you may feel like grabbing a sword and going into battle afterwards!

9. Saved by the Bell

Hello nostalgia!

10. Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

If you don’t know the rap to this, you were deprived as a child.

11. The Sopranos

Woke up this morning, got yourself a gun.

12. The Wire

A different singer for every series, The Wire really summed up its entire season with its differing intros.

13. Sesame Street

Just pure joy! JOY!

14. Only Fools and Horses

Another classic for all ages.

15. The A-Team

Basically play this whenever you need a slight lift.

16. Animaniacs

If you can still sing all the lyrics, we will give you a euro.

17. Mission: Impossible

Tom who?

18. Looney Toons

One of the originals and best.

19. Star Trek

Ok, we’ll admit it. This is one of our favourites.

20. The Simpsons

Danny Elfman, you are a champion.

21. The Muppet Show

It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights.

22. The OC

Oh, how could we leave you without this one?
