The 5 emotional stages of deciding where to eat

The struggle is very real!

The following scenario might sound very similar. You’re out and about with your other half or your bestie, everything is going fine and then….

WHAM!

All of a sudden you’re both absolutely starving and you’re faced with the tough task of deciding where you want to eat.

Here are the 5 emotional stages of making up your mind.

The first pangs

At first, you’re not entirely sure. Is that hunger? Maybe I should just have some more water…nope that’s definitely hunger. Oh well, time to get something to eat.

The great debate

Will we eat in or go out? Should we get Mexican or Italian? Oh, or maybe Chinese food?

So. Many. Questions. This could go on for a few hours until you reach…

Rage-inducing hunger

You’re officially hangry and all you can think about is the giant empty pit in your stomach. If another person suggests simply cooking dinner at home you will probably completely lose it. At this stage, you’re fantasising about the steak you ate last week and getting annoyed that you didn’t bring snacks.

Someone cracks

All it takes is the sight of a burrito or the smell of a freshly baked pizza and one of you will ultimately crack. Gone are the polite ”Oh no you choose” and in their place is a firm ”Right, we’re eating here.” Finally, we have a decision and the end is in sight.

Sweet, sweet satisfaction

You’ve made it. You’ve finally agreed on a place, ordered some food, and maybe even a few drinks to take the edge off.  You sit back and relax in your chair and before you know it there comes your waiter, with yes, you guessed it, your food! Thanks be to God!
