6 highlights from the Laya Healthcare City Spectacular in Cork

Her

Ireland’s biggest and most-loved summer festival came to Cork’s Fitzgerald Park over the weekend.

Laya lined up a mesmerising schedule of jugglers, break dancers, mysterious magicians and world-class, award-winning street performers to enthral guests old and young, throughout the two-day extravaganza.

Here are 6 of the best aspects we saw from the exciting weekend.

1. Just Eat Street

Because, well…food. With masses of people moseying to the Just Eat Street in Fitzgerald Park’s Rose Garden it was obvious the 15 cuisines from around the world had everyone rushing to try a bite. Chilling in the sunshine while the Just Eat Waiter Service delivered plenty of food orders was absolutely heavenly for so many at the event.

2. Strange For Hire Sideshow

If anyone was looking for proper old school entertainment then they needn’t have looked any further. Coney Island Legend Mr Donny Vomit and Hollywood Showgirl of the Sideshow Miss Frankie Sin brought a true entertainment extravaganza to Cork. From sword swallowing to whip cracking they had hearts racing.

3. Belting out songs at Car-Aoke!

Nissan Car-Aoke Cork gave plenty of folks a chance to check out the all new Nissan Micra with the BOSE personal audio system which could be used to blast out their favourite tunes and try their hand at Car-aoke! There was also some nice giveaways for lucky visitors who warmed up those vocal chords.

4. PET-acular with DSPCA & Purina

The DSPCA was on hand with advice on how to get your pooch to behave and they also microchipped your pup for just €15. The Purina crew was on hand with a range of pet food and there was even a photobooth to have your photo taken with Felix! I mean, come on, could it have been much better than that?

5. The Mighty Gareth

The fire-eating magician left eyes wide and jaws dropped. The Mighty Gareth himself performed a number of shows throughout the weekend that were simply spectacular.

6. Kid’s Court

Anyone who brought along the little ones – we hope you visited The Kid’s Court. This year it was even messier, meaner and more mischievous than ever! Children could put their parents on trial, where… wait for it… they may or may not have been sentenced to a custard-pie-in-the-face or a bucket of iced water thrown at them as punishment.
