These spots are perfect if you want to try somewhere new in Dublin this weekend…

Whether you are into music, museums or mummies, Dublin’s dynamic and diverse cultural scene doesn’t disappoint. And when it comes to wetting your whistle after a day of walking, there’s a whole host of innovative establishments serving up creative cocktails that even the most discerning visitors will enjoy.

Looking to take a break this autumn? Get your cultural and cocktail fix in Dublin’s fair city.

Tour the iconic Windmill Lane Recording Studios

What do U2, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga, Ed Sheeran and Hozier have in common? All of these legendary musicians laid down tracks in Windmill Lane Recording Studios in Ringsend.

Ready to rock? Then roll down to The Docklands and take a tour of these iconic studios that have been at the heart of recording in Ireland since 1978. Follow in the footsteps of famous recording artists as you explore the studios, discover their history and see how a recording session works. You can even have a go at mixing your own session. Eat your heart out, Bono.

Peel back the layers of history at 14 Henrietta Street

On Henrietta Street in north Dublin, you’ll find the most intact collection of early to mid-18th century houses in the city. From the early 1730s to the start of the 19th-century, the street was Dublin’s most fashionable address, but, by the start of the 20th-century, it had become a tenement street.

In 1911, No 14 Henrietta Street was home to over 100 people, but nowadays it is a social history museum that takes you on a compelling 300-year journey from the street’s grand Georgian beginnings to the tenement dwellings of its later years. On a tour, you’ll explore the restored Georgian townhouse and hear the personal stories of the tenants which bring the building’s hidden histories alive.

Christ Church Cathedral

From tenements to treasures, take a self-guided tour of Christ Church Cathedral and the Treasures of Christ Church exhibition. Beginning life circa 1028 as a wooden Viking church, Christ Church Cathedral is the oldest working structure in Dublin as today it is still in use as a place of worship.

Marvel at the magnificent interior before walking through the massive medieval crypt — one of the largest in Ireland and the UK. Here you’ll discover important treasures, artefacts and manuscripts, including the rare 14th-century copy of the Magna Carta Hiberniae. Don’t forget to seek out the most unusual (and popular) inhabitants of the crypt, the mummified cat and rat.

Quench your thirst at Teeling Whiskey Distillery

After all that walking, you’ll probably be ready to wet your whistle and what better way to do so than with a whiskey. Head to the historic Liberties area and take a self-guided tour of the Teeling Whiskey Distillery. You will learn loads about the triple distillation process, see the fermenters in action and you’ll also get a chance to sip the wonderful whiskeys made right here in the heart of Dublin.

No time for a tour? No problem! Just hang out in the Bang Bang Bar where the expert mixologists will pour you innovative cocktails made with Teeling Whiskey and served with a side of chat and craic.

Shake things up at Roe and Co Distillery

Roe and Co Distillery is also in the Liberties in the former Guinness Power Station. Designed by English architect F.P.M. Woodhouse and constructed between 1946 and 1949, this protected structure was once the powerhouse of the Guinness brewery.

Get hands-on and create a bespoke whiskey-based cocktail on the Flavours Experience workshop. Shake things up with talented bartenders who share their expert tips as you hone your skills and explore what makes a delicious drink. After all that mixing and muddling, you’ll get to sit back and sip a whiskey-based cocktail in the gorgeous Power House Bar.

Stillgarden Distillery

For a taste of community spirit in a spirit, make your way to Stillgarden Distillery in Inchicore. The on-site community garden is where the distillers source the botanicals for their signature collection of spirits. It truly is a unique offering. Want to get involved? Sign up for one of the hands-on Cocktail Masterclasses where you’ll see the fascinating distillery equipment in action before learning how to create custom concoctions. After the tour, unwind on the heated terrace and enjoy the fruits of your labour as you sip your signature cocktails. Cheers.

So, what are you waiting for? Let’s go to Dublin this autumn where you can work up a thirst enjoying music, museums and medieval treasures before sipping some of the most creative cocktails in the city.
