8 reasons why it’s acceptable to be excited about Pippa’s wedding

Laura Holland

Even though we have no personal interest in the royal family, we’re still very intrigued by everything about them, including the likes of Pippa Middleton who is royalty by association.

And now, she’s about to get married to James Spencer on Saturday and we’re very excited. *Cue everyone giving out about why we’re interested*

I’ll tell you why.

1. We are just that nosy

Let’s call a spade, a spade – we just have to know. We already want to know every detail about our ex-classmate who got married, or an old colleague and it’s no different if they’re as far removed from us as Pippa Middleton. We’re all about the style, the setting, the people who got invited, the people who didn’t (cough, cough Vogue) and of course because it’s one of the biggest weddings of the year.

2. It’s the closest thing to a royal wedding

We got excited about Will and Kate’s wedding in 2011 and we’re not ashamed to admit that we’ll be excited about the next. We just cannot resist the hype. And, let’s face it, we could be waiting a long time for Harry to give his family a day out. It doesn’t necessarily matter if they are of royal decent but more about the overall money and effort that goes into the day itself. No other celebrity wedding can match the sheer size of it.

3. The event is beyond our wildest dreams

These weddings are like a fairytale. Pippa is reported to have spent in excess of £250,000 on the wedding, with £20k alone going on flowers. Of course, we want to see how that turns out, we’re only human.

They have been constructing the monstrosity of a glass marquee in Berkshire for the last number of days and we cannot wait to see the finished result, down to every last touch. Apparently, the toilets cost £4k so you can only imagine how much money will be spent on the rest of it.

Oh to be a fly on the wall when they take to the dance floor for their first dance.

4. The Dress

Pippa caused such a stir for Kate’s wedding when she wore a very simple but figure hugging dress to act as Maid of Honour for Kate. What type of dress will she pick? Can her arse live up to the hype? We just cannot wait to see.

5. Will Kate outshine her?

Kate could outshine anyone with her style and grace, but what will she wear to her sister’s wedding? She’s not very showy at the best of times so you know that she will probably turn up in a hat and matching coat combo but will still steal the show.

6. Charlotte and George

Two of the cutest children in the world, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, are going to be acting as Page Boy and Bridesmaid for their aunt Pippa. They are going to be adorable. However, Kate has concerns that they might not behave themselves. So, will either throw a wobbler or will they look picture perfect as they make their way up the aisle?

7. Meghan Markle

This will mark Meghan Markle’s first official outing as part of the extended royal family. Pippa broke her ‘no ring, no bring’ rule to allow Prince Harry to bring his girlfriend Meghan Markle along as his plus one. There have already been hourly updates on her every move since she arrived into London earlier this week and we can be sure that people will be watching her like a hawk.

8. Spencer Matthews

As we all know, Pippa’s husband-to-be, James, is Spencer Matthew’s brother. Spencer found fame on Made in Chelsea and subsequently went on to become a reality star. Spencer would be the one to grab a sneaky selfie with Meghan Markle or get a bit tipsy during the meal so this only leads to ample opportunities for mischief. His new girlfriend Vogue Williams was reportedly not invited but she maintains that she is “busy” on Saturday. Will she turn up unexpectedly? We’ll have to wait and see.
