We've heard of the bible saving lives, but this takes it to a whole other level...
Rickey Wagoner was standing outside his bus early Monday morning when some gang members shot him three times: twice in his chest and once in the leg. He also stabbed in the arm.
Wagoner grabbed the gun and stabbed one man in the leg with his pen, after which the gang members ran away. But the best thing he did for himself was to carry his bible in his chest pocket.
The man said in the 911 call that he felt two shots to his chest, but he didn't think the bullets got through to his chest.
"It just feels like I've been hit with a sledgehammer," Wagoner said. "I've got a book in my pocket, and I don't think they made it through this book."
Wagoner received care for the bullet wound in his leg at the hospital. He should recover and didn’t suffer any life threatening injuries. Authorities are searching for the three suspects.
