A Big Occasion For UCD Waves And Wexford Youths As Women’s National League Award Recipients Announced

UCD Waves and Wexford Youths were two of the big winners at Wednesday’s Continental Tyres Women’s National League awards in Dublin.

Aine O’Gorman of UCD Waves was named as the Continental Tyres Women’s National League Player of the Year for 2014/15, while Ciara Rossiter of Wexford Youths AFC was awarded the Young Player of the Year.

The awards were attended by players and representatives from all seven clubs, and six of the eleven places on the Continental Tyres Women’s National League Team of the Season went to newly-crowned winners Wexford Youths.

Other teams represented on the team of the season included Raheny United, Galway WFC and UCD Waves.

Still to be decided is the Golden Boot Award, which won’t be presented until after the final league games on May 3rd.

Neck-in-neck for the honour includes Katie McCabe (Raheny Utd) on 24 goals and O’Gorman on 22 goals.

Others honoured on the day included Pauline O’Shaughnessy, the long-serving secretary of the Women’s Football Association of Ireland, who received the Services to Football Award for her contribution to the game over the past 30 years.
