One lucky chap could become the rightful owner of more than €100,000 after he found it, floating down a river. The. Dream.
According to Oesterreich newspaper, the sum was discovered in €500 and €100 notes, floating in Vienna. The boy jumped into the river, but bystanders assumed he had jumped in to kill himself and alerted the police.
The police arrived and were able to fish out both the boy and the money. They have not yet discovered the source of the money, but they have ruled out money laundering and other illegal activity.
According to Austrian law, if the rightful owner cannot prove ownership of the money within a year, the boy will be declared the owner.
