We’ll admit that this is an interesting way to make some money. A Chinese millionaire is capitalizing on China’s air pollution problem by selling canned fresh air. Yes, really.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Chen Guangbiao, one of China’s richest people, has started selling “fresh air in soft drink cans” for around €1 a go.
The air comes in a variety of flavours, including “Pristine Tibet” and “Post-Industrial Taiwan” so you can choose the kind of fresh air that you inhale.
“Every day, we are inhaling the exhaust fumes of cars,” said Chen, speaking to China’s Sina News last year.
“And now we have pollution-free air to sell – a benefit to everyone’s health and longevity,” he added.

Chen Guangbiao is one of China's richest men
Chen has been selling his canned air since September of last year and, surprisingly, people are actually going mad buying it. According to Chen, more than €900 worth of canned air was sold in Beijing alone on the first day it hit the shelves.
While Chen is making a lot of money off China’s air pollution problem, he’s also hoping that his product will make people realise that something really needs to be done about the issue.

The canned air comes in a variety of different flavours
This week, the Guardian reported that residents of Beijing have been advised to stay indors as much as they can because the air pollution is “at danger levels.”
It’s no wonder, then, that people are so desperate to get their hands on a can of fresh stuff but what do you think? Is canned fresh air just a gimmick?
