In one of the most unique and brilliant court rulings we've ever heard of, a Missouri judge has ordered that a deer poacher who was part of a gang that illegally killed numerous deer is to watch the Walt Disney classic film Bambi at least once a month for the duration of his prison sentence.
Hundreds of deer were killed by a group of three men over the course of multiple years. The Springfield News-Leader reports that conservation agents are labelling the shootings one of Missouri's largest cases of deer poaching. Sickeningly, the deer were killed for their "trophy" heads.
The southwest Missouri case involves family members David Berry Sr. of Springfield, David Berry Jr. of Brookline, and Kyle Berry of Everton. David Berry Jr. is the defendant who was ordered to watch the 1942 film, Bambi. He received a 485 day prison sentence. Authorities have been on Berry’s case since 2015, when they started to investigate deer-poaching in Lawrence County after a tip-off. The investigation involved state, federal and Canadian law enforcement agencies and conservation officers, as well as suspects in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Canada. Trophy hunters have absolutely no regard for the lives of animals and largely do it for their own ego and greed. Hopefully, the repeated screenings of Bambi might make him feel remorse for the disgusting killings.MISSOURI DEER POACHER David Berry Jr. must watch the Disney movie "Bambi" once a month during his 1-year prison sentence.
