Today’s new Snapchat filter has raised a few eyebrows for sure…
In case you didn’t know, the 4th April is commonly celebrated as ‘420’ or in other words, Christmas for weed smokers.
To celebrate, Snapchat teamed up with Bob Marley’s Estate to create a custom filter for the day.
While many appear to be getting a lot of LOLs out of the filter, others don’t find it so funny, with some labelling it “blackface” and claiming that it has racist connotations.
Others just think it’s a poor representation of what Bob Marley stood for, and that he is much more than just his penchant for the doobie.
.@Snapchat capitalising on 4/20 with a blackface Bob Marley filter. Stay classy. ✌?

So what do we think Twitter? @snapchat's 'Bob Marley' filter is effectively 'digital blackface' right? pic.twitter.com/BTq1x2lpZf

4/20, and you choose Bob Marley to be some sort of filter.
