Times Square is on of New York City's biggest tourist traps.
The bright lights and billboards are synonymous with the city and have been the backdrop for thousands of movie scenes.
One aspect of Times Square that draws a lot of attention is the entertainers such as the Naked Cowboy, or the human statues that are peppered throughout the area.
Recently, one Canadian woman had a major run-in with one of the more famous faces from the Square, the Free Hugs guy. Jermaine Himmelstein is 24 and often holds a sign saying 'Free Hugs' near Times Square and then asks for a tip once the hug is over.
This time, it wasn't a question so much as a demand according to
ABC27.
The 22-year-old woman took a photo with Himmelstein, and afterwards, refused three times to tip him. After the third time, he punched her in the face.
She sustained a black eye, swelling and bruising and was treated in hospital.
Himmelstein has now been charged with robbery and fraudulent accosting, and has multiple prior arrests.
Apparently, there have been multiple problems with tip dependent entertainers in the area, and Mayor Bill de Blasio just signed a bill to allow city officials to restrict their movements and stop them from blocking pedestrians.
