A Man Spent A Decade Building A Garden So His Blind Wife Could Smell The Flowers

Love is REAL, people

Ellen Tannam

This love story from Japan is almost too much to take.

There’s a beautiful garden that is visited by thousands of people that is carpeted with a type of pink flower called moss phlox. Nearly 7,000 people a day visit it according to rocketnews24 because of the flowers and the special story behind them.

The plot of land used to be a dairy farm belonging to Mr and Mrs Kuroki, who brought up children and worked hard on the farm for many years.

However, the story took a sad turn after 30 years of marriage, when Mrs Kuroki lost her sight from complications with Type 2 diabetes. She was devastated, and the couples’ plans to travel all over Japan were thwarted by this setback. She shut herself away from the world and began life as a recluse.

Her husband wanted to cheer her up so he spent TWO YEARS chopping down trees and growing the pink flowers, so his wife could experience the beauty of them without seeing them.

Look how happy she is!
