Wait. What?
You might have read our recent guide to the ultimate Game of Thrones road trip based on some of the show’s amazing filming locations around Northern Ireland. We couldn’t quite believe that there were so many famous places right on our doorstep.
Well it turns out that there’s a brand news set of Game of Thrones (GOT) tourist attractions to add to our bucket list.
These might even be the coolest yet.
Remember when storm Gertrude tore through Ireland earlier this year? We all cursed that little witch of a storm for causing widespread traffic havoc and just being a bit of a nuisance.
Avid fans of the show will remember that The Dark Hedges, aka. Kings Road in County Antrim was badly damaged in the storm.
Well, the good folks up north decided to turn lemons into lemonade and have used some of the felled trees to create something really beautiful.
The wood from the damaged trees was collected and intricately carved into a stunning collection of GOT themed doors.
Yes, doors!
Over the last ten weeks, Tourism NI and Tourism Ireland have unveiled the series of doors which depict moments inspired by the current season and reference key scenes from the last episode.
The impressive pieces of art are now hanging in pubs and other venues in Northern Ireland near filming locations and are a definite must-see for any hardcore fans.
Take a look below. They’re absolutely beautiful:
Frank Owens Bar in Limavady
Ballygally Castle Hotel
Blakes of the Hollow
The Cuan
The campaign has become know as #DoorOfThrones.
How freakin’ cool is that!
You can view all the doors along with their locations here.
