This doesn’t seem like the smartest of moves for a journalist to make.
A news reporter for 7 News in Australia has p*ssed off a lot of Irish people this weekend after a comment on social media about Irish people living in Sydney.
According to our bros at JOE, Australia’s biggest city was hit with a series of major storms. Coogee, an area known for it’s large Irish population was badly affected.
Tremendous damage was caused, the sand on the beach was eroded and the Coogee Surf Live Saving Club, which has been in existence for over 110 years, has been extensively damaged.
The reporter in question, Josh Massoud, snapped a shot of the damage to Coogee beach and posted the image to Twitter and Instagram alongside the caption:
‘Coogee demolished over the weekend and for a pleasant change the Irish aren’t to blame.’

7 News initially retweeted the image but deleted it swiftly.

Many of Massoud’s 15,000 followers were quick to point out the racism and offence in his comment.
