The animals in Tayto Park enjoy iced treats and it is the most precious thing

Olivia Hayes

It’s ROASTING out.

While we’re really feeling the heat, we’re sure animals are feeling it too so Tayto Park decided to treat their resident creatures to some iced fruits while they bask in the sunshine.

Temperatures are going to reach up to 26 degrees today and tomorrow which means Ireland is officially going through a heatwave. While we’ll be snacking on cold drinks and ice creams, our furry friends over in Ashbourne have been enjoying some frozen fresh fruit and fruit skewers.

Fruits are a great way for animals to absorb extra water and keep them hydrated during this warm spell of weather.

The park released pictures of Ricky, the Ring Tailed Coatimundi and Indah, the Sulawesi Crested Macaque enjoying their cool-down treats this afternoon.

The Meerkats (main picture) also looked delighted to have some fruit skewers to munch on.

The zoo is home to a variety of animals, including big-cats, meerkats, birds of prey and not to forget the farmyard friends at the parks petting area.

This is honestly one of the most precious things we’ve seen all summer.
