Facebook is apparently rating us and we NEED to know our score

Olivia Hayes

This is a little bit creepy.

Apparently, Facebook is keeping score on us… but why?

Facebook has had a bit of a wild year with the drama over user privacy. Not so great… but now it has been revealed that the social networking site is rating its users.

According to the Washington Post: “Facebook has begun to assign its users a reputation score, predicting their trustworthiness on a scale from zero to 1.

Basically, it’s trying to target fake users and the score is for legitimacy.

“We developed a process to protect against people indiscriminately flagging news as fake and attempting to game the system,” the spokesperson continued.

“I like to make the joke that, if people only reported things that were false, this job would be so easy! People often report things that they just disagree with.

“The reason we do this is to make sure that our fight against misinformation is as effective as possible.”

However, apparently we are unable to access our score as the information was only made public this week. The Washington Post writes that it may never be made available to users.
