Barbie Thomas had always dreamed of being a bodybuilder and despite missing both her arms, she decided to go after her goal in 2003.
According to People Magazine, the 37-year-old had read about the competitions in fitness magazines for years and since she was able to cook, text, shop and drive with her feet, she called local officials to enquire about whether she would be eligible to enter.
After receiving the green light, she embarked on a new regime and now regularly competes in events. While she didn’t receive any major awards at her latest competition in South Carolina, she was rewarded with a standing ovation in recognition of her bravery and determination.
