Asiana Airlines has announced that it plans to sue US television station KTVU-TV after the station broadcasted a news report with fake and derogatory pilot names.
The airline says it plans to take legal action against the San Francisco TV station to "strongly respond to its racially discriminatory report" that insulted people of Asian descent said spokesperson Lee Hyomin.
According to the airlines, the TV news report damaged Asiana’s reputation by using the phony pilot names for the tragic crash that killed three people and injured dozens earlier this month.
The airline will likely file its law suit in a US court she said.
The National Transportation Safety Board also apologised, saying that a summer intern sourced the names of the Asiana crew.
The four pilots were questioned in the US before returning to South Korea where they will be also questioned in relation to this tragedy.
