In fact, half of the 919 Irish adults that were surveyed admitted that they were afraid of asking for a gift that was too expensive while 20 per cent believe it’s rude to ask for a specific item as a grown-up.
However others, almost a quarter, would happily spend money on a gift for themselves at this time of the year.
As for favourite Christmas memories, Santa presents came top but eating Christmas dinner also ranked highly (we're counting down the days to that stuffing).
And while the majority of people revealed that they think Christmas is more enjoyable as a child, they said that putting the tree up and playing Christmas music still puts them in a festive mood.
