Bill Gates, inventor of Microsoft, has offered $100,000 for the design of a new condom. The Gates Foundation is offering one inventor the money to design the “next generation” of prophylactics, with $1 million available in further funding to the winner.
The billionaire was prompted to make the decision due to complaints about condoms. Although used by over 750 million people worldwide, people continue to reiterate that pleasure is sacrificed for safety.
According to the Independent, The Foundation’s description of the challenge states: "the primary drawback from the male perspective is that condoms decrease pleasure as compared to no condom.” Women have the added problem that they: "require proper insertion training and are substantially more expensive than their male counterparts."
The Gates' Foundation has been involved in a number of health projects worldwide including trying to find a cure for HIV.
You can send your ideas for how to make the condom better to the Foundation for review, however they do require substantial proof of concept.
Good luck with that...
