It was a sweet, sweet day for some lawbreakers in Wales this week, as thieves made away with over £12,000 worth of cookies.
The treats were taken when some opportunistic criminals took a truck containing the biscuits from Burton’s Food Ltd in Cwmbran, South Wales on June 17th.
The vehicle was later recovered 160 miles away in Warrington, Cheshire, but the goods were long gone.
Burton’s Foods are the manufacturers of well-known tea-time treats like Wagon Wheels, Jammie Dodgers, Toffypops and Maryland Chocolate Chip Cookies.
A spokesman for the company said: “Burton’s Biscuit Company can confirm that goods and a trailer were stolen from the Llantarnam factory during the early hours of Wednesday 17th June. This is an isolated incident and we’re currently working closely with South Wales Police in their on-going investigation of the theft.”
Under licence from Cadbury’s, Burton’s also produces Caramel, Crunchie, Daily Milk, Fingers and Bourneville biscuits.
That’s some haul…
