The problem that has the internet stumped.
“[It] is actually a question from the Sec 3 and from the Sec 4 SASMO (Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad) contests held on Apr 8, 2015,” a statement read. “This is a difficult question meant to sift out the better students.”
In case you are still scratching your head, here it is explained another way: Cheryl tells Albert the month that she is born – either May, June, July or August - while she tells Bernard the day’s number, either 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 or 19.
Either way though we were left stumped… and to be honest, the answer doesn’t really clear it up for us either.
Guess we won’t be following a career path in actuary any time soon!
