Attitude is everything.
The original Grumpy Cat was the best thing to hit the internet since the sneezing panda of 2008. The sour face came to dominate our Facebook feeds and became the appropriate meme for almost every occasion.
The original YouTube video was posted in 2012 and now has over 21 million views. The feline star even nabbed a spot on The Today Show and a book deal.
All over a disgruntled face.

Well the OG might have lost his place on the throne of misery because there’s a new Grumpy Cat in town.
Saul, or “Grumpy Cat 2.0” as he’s been dubbed, is a rescue cat who was taken in by the RSPCA. Saul was found in mid-October wandering along a street in London in the rain, clearly injured and in need of help. After a passerby noticed him and made contact with the RSPCA, Saul was taken to Putney Animal Hospital.
The Dodo reported that Caroline Allen, London veterinary director for the RSPCA, said:
“He was in a very sorry state … and had discharge coming from his eyes and nose and looked very poorly indeed. We believe he was involved in a road traffic accident as we found he had injured his jaw, teeth and one eye.”
As Saul thankfully began to recover from his injuries, staff at the Putney Animal hospital began to notice that he always bore a grumpy face, no matter his mood.
Even if Saul was being cuddled or presented with toys, he still looked sullen:
The staff are unsure if this expression is as a result of past injuries, or something that he was born with but it’s there to stay!
Despite his sour exterior, Saul is actually very sweet natured.
Allen said that:
“Despite his constant scowl, Saul’s actually really sweet and friendly. He’s recovering really well from his injuries and we hope he will soon be ready to move to our cattery at Southall to find a new home as we don’t rehome directly from the hospital.”
We certainly think Saul would make a great addition to anyone’s home. One things for sure, he’s definitely got that BDE.
