Calling all animal lovers, there’s a pet expo coming to Dublin this weekend

Amy Nolan

The perfect weekend does exist.

Animal lovers are in for a treat this Saturday and Sunday as Ireland’s Family Pet Expo lands in Swords.

The event will take place in The National Show Centre and will be on from 10am-6pm both days.

Tickets cost €10 for adults, €5 for children with family tickets (2 & 2) priced at €25. And the best part? Free entry for doggos!

The aim of the event is mostly to promote responsible pet ownership:

“At Ireland’s Family Pet Expo we emphasize the importance of responsible pet care of a wide variety of pets, teach the principles of proper pet selection and training, offer a vast array of fine pet products, promote pet adoptions, and help people to better understand and appreciate all the wonderful ways in which pets make our lives better. Join us in our celebration of pets!”

This is the 11th year of the event that promises to have something for everyone.  There are stands selling products and services, a dog breed village, dog demonstrations, entertainment and much more.

Some of the headline attractions this year include Wooly Ward’s Farm, where kids can see and pet animals like bunnies, chickens, goats, pigs and lambs. Kids can also have an animal tattoo painted on.

The National Bird of Prey Centre will also be at this year’s expo, showcasing and educating members of the public on birds like hawks, eagles, owls, and falcons. So…deep breath, you could basically meet Hedwig.
