Make sure to keep some extra change for those bus, DART and Luas fares.

Cash fares for public transport users are set to increase from tomorrow – with fares across Dublin Bus, DART and Luas services set to rise.

Adults paying cash on Dublin Bus will see a 15cent increased for the 4-13 stop band, jumping to €2.70 per fare, while Luas one, seven and 30-day tickets will increase by up to 4%.

Commuters are being warned that increases will also be introduced on some Irish Rail and Bus Éireann services.

Speaking to RTÉ News, Minister for Transport Paschal Donohoe has described the increases as ‘significantly less’ than previous hikes, adding:

“As Irish Rail, Bus Éireann and Dublin Bus begin to get back on their feet again, because of more people using their services and because of additional investment from the Government, I am expecting that those sort of price increases that we saw in previous years are not repeated.”

It is believed the new fares will aim to push commuters to adopt the Leap Card system for paying for their transport.

Touting the Leap Cards as good value for money, The National Transport Authority approved the price increases last month.
