Ladies have you seen The Dark Knight Rises yet? If not, you might want to get on it seeing as how the movie is one of the biggest releases of the year.
The Guardian reports that box office analysts have confirmed that the final instalment in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy officially debuted with the third highest US opening of all time last weekend. It made a staggering $160.9 million. Crazy, right?
Both Warner Brothers and other Hollywood studios refused to report the official figures over the weekend as a mark of respect to the people who lost their lives when James Holmes opened fire in a cinema in Aurora, Colorado, during a midnight premiere of the film. 12 people (including a 6 year old child) were killed and at least 58 were injured.
The $160 million figure was confirmed yesterday and it is just slightly higher than the $158 million taken by the previous Batman film The Dark Knight when it premiered in 2008.
Yesterday, Warner Brothers announced that it will make a “substantial” donation to charities supporting victims of the Aurora killings. It will support a fund named the Community First Foundation, in order to help anyone who suffered as a result of the attack.

The success of The Dark Knight Rises has already lead to talk regarding sequels and follow ups, despite the fact that both Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale have said that this film would be their last.
However, Anne Hathaway has made no secret of the fact that she would love to slip on her cat suit again in the future.
“If he’s [Christopher Nolan] interested, I’m very interested,” she said, speaking to Digital Spy.
“I think it would be lovely to see more of her [Catwoman], but only if it’s with the right people. She lives in this Gotham City, and so it would have to be established by the people who have made this Gotham City. For me, at least,” she added.
