Chinese Marathon Runners Accidentally Ate Soap They Thought Was An Energy Bar

This is GAS

This is too funny.

You know when you run a marathon, you’re often given a participation goody bag at the end which nine times out of ten has some sort of energy bar in it?

Well, that’s what these marathon runners in China thought, but they were sorely mistaken. BBC News reports that many runners mistook free bars of soap for energy bars after receiving them in a goody bag.

The mistake was put down to the language barrier, according to Chinese media, as the soap packaging was in English which many runners do not understand.

The organisers stated:
“The packs of soap were indeed like food packaging. It is a negligent mistake on our part,”

Users of Chinese social media site Weibo were quick to mock organisers for including soap in the pack, with one writing;
“Why give them a bar of soap, to take a shower at the halfway point?”

We can only imagine the bad taste left in people’s mouths after this.
