So it’s not the Oscars but still, Chris O’Dowd has been nominated for an Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Award!
According to reports the Irish heartthrob is up for Best Actor for his role in The Sapphires in which he plays the manager of an Australian girl group.
Chris is making a name for himself on the big screen.
The film itself is also dominating the awards with a total of 12 nods including for Best Direction and Best Adapted Screenplay.
Chris will have to wait until the ceremony in January to find out whether he has won and while he gets our vote, there is serious competition.
Guy Pearce is one of the actors that the Bridesmaids star is up against.
Joel Edgerton (Wish You Were Here), Matthew Goode (Burning Man), and Guy Pearce (33 POSTCARDS) are also in the category for Best Actor.
As much as we like that lot, we have our fingers crossed that Chris will be adding to his Her.ie 'Man Candy' title in the new year!
