Ireland has a new world champion this weekend in the form of Christina McMahon.
The Irish woman faced off against the undefeated WBC Silver champion Catherine Phiri on Saturday evening for the Interim WBC Gold bantamweight crown.

The fight took place in Lusaka, Zambia and the Monaghan native came out victorious after a tough decision victory.
“Catherine Phiri is the hardest opponent I have fought in twenty years,” said McMahon afterwards.
