Classic Children’s Book Updated To Smash Stereotypes and Challenge Gender Norms

Smashing stereotypes one page at a time.

What we read as children shapes the way we think.

That’s why we love the fact that this classic children’s book has been updated to suit our modern society and smash the gender stereotypes of our predecessors.

Richard Scarry’s Best Word Book Ever was first penned in 1963, but reading the original – you would think it was a LOT older.

According to Bored Panda, Senior Photo Editor at The Atlantic (and fan of Richard Scarry’s children’s books) Alan Taylor, noticed the changes in his own children’s version of the book.

A perfect example of how subtle changes can make a big difference.
