Cliffs of Moher Edges Past Dublin Zoo On List Of Top Irish Tourist Attractions

Although the Guinness Storehouse remains number one in terms of Irish tourist attractions, the Cliffs of Moher are now more popular than Dublin Zoo. In at number two, the breathtaking views of the Co Clare cliffs had over a million visitors last year. This is the first time the number of people visiting the cliffs exceeded the one million mark with a total of 1,080, 501. Dublin Zoo had 1,076,876 visitors and the Guinness Storehouse is in first place again with 1,269,371 people through the doors of the famed brewery in 2014. The Guinness Storehouse is the number one Irish tourist attraction Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience Director Katherine Webster said: “I believe it is the first time since the new visitor centre opened that we are in the number two slot. "We have always been the most visited natural attraction and by a long way the most visited attraction outside of the capital city.”

“It is great to see that so many visitors are drawn to the west of Ireland, to county Clare and to the Wild Atlantic Way,” she said.

The Cliffs of Moher also saw more visitors than the eleven sites run by Ireland’s largest operator of tourist attractions.
