Comedian Al Porter praised for showing anti-depressants on RTÉ last night

“I never thought I would be that person”

Al Porter is well-known and loved for his cheeky humour and generally affable personality.

On last night’s Cutting Edge, the comedian opened up about taking anti-depressants and the stigma that surrounds such a situation.

Porter reveals that he hadn’t even told his mother about his medication until he decided to publically speak about it.

“I’ve been hiding them around my house,” he says, “I have had my friends go pick them up for me.”

Porter even says that he has had the prescription made out to different names.

Porter openly talks about the stigma that surrounds anti-depressants and how difficult he found it to admit that he needed them.

At a point during the interview, Porter showed his medication and viewers responded brilliantly.
