Coming Up with Fundraising Ideas: Part Two of the Ultimate Guide to Running Your Charity Event

Coming up with interesting and exciting fundraising ideas can be quite the challenge and when it comes to fundraising, there can be quite a lot of organising involved.

In part two of our ultimate guide to hosting your own charity event this week we’re looking at coming up with the ideas behind your event.

Every year we see hundreds upon hundreds of charity events being advertised, but what makes the most interesting ones stand out?

With your newly formed committee in place, it’s important that you gather together for a meeting on how best to fundraise for your chosen charity like the Irish Cancer Society.

Have your committee write down their own (if any), fundraising experience and tease out what made most sense with the time available, how much effort was involved and what worked the best. Chances are that some of your members will have been to at least one charity event.

Think about what people will enjoy and events that you've. It's not just about heading out on the streets with a fundraising bucket.

A bake sale is an effective way to bring in funds but why not make it more exciting with maybe a cake theme or getting children involved with coming up with their own baking creations.

If you’re looking for something with a bit more of a group challenge element to it why not come up with a sporting team and invite another club in for a friendly competition. You could invite members of the public to join your club offering a day of training for a donation.

While at the match you could choose a range of activities to take place at the same time, for example: a post-match social event such as a dinner or BBQ, a best dressed competition, a raffle, auction or a talent show. 

Hopefully this might inspire you to come up with your own innovative fundraising plans.
