Conor McGregor dodged a very painful mishap just before the fight

Oh my.

Anna O'Rourke

A near miss.

The dust has all but settled on what was one of the biggest boxing matches of the decade – McGregor and Mayweather.

Plenty of interesting titbits of information have circulated about the event since then and this latest one is… quite something.

Conor may have been beaten in Las Vegas last weekend but as well the comfort that his millions of dollars will surely provide him, he can rest safe in the knowledge that his crown jewels came out unscathed.

It turns out that he narrowly avoided having to go unprotected for the fight, according to TMZ.

The moment of realisation, perhaps?

It was a pretty big night for The Notorious and in the hullaballoo of it all, he forgot one key piece of equipment.

He was just finished having his hands wrapped upon his arrival at the T-Mobile Arena last Saturday when he realised he had left his custom-made protective cup behind.

A team member was quickly sent to retrieve the item before the fight began.

Now, we couldn’t possibly speculate as to why he had to use that particular cup but TMZ has its own theory that you can check out here if you’re so inclined.
