Mayo’s Cora Staunton has become one of just two players in the history of Ladies Gaelic Football to win 10 All-Stars, after she was presented with the prestigious award at the LGFA ceremony held on Saturday night.

Staunton now joins Kerry legend Mary Jo Curran as the only two players to ever win 10 All-Star awards.

She wasn’t the only one making history on the night as Briege Corkery earned her ninth Gaelic football All-Star award and her second in as many weeks – having bagged an All-Star for camogie last weekend – at this year’s event and also became the first player to receive her second Player’s Player of the Year award on the night.

Overall, TG4 All-Ireland champions, Cork, were the big winners with six representatives on the 2015 TG4 All-Stars selection as 19-year-old Marie Ambrose earned her first All-Star, while Geraldine O’Flynn, Vera Foley, Rena Buckley (who also picked up a camogie All-Star last weekend), Valerie Mulcahy and Briege Corkery were also named on the night.

Meanwhile, beaten All-Ireland finalists, Dublin, were also well represented with four award winners including Sinead Finnegan and four-time All-Star Sinead Goldrick in the half back line with Carla Rowe earning her first All-Star at wing forward and Dublin captain, Lyndsey Davey, claiming her third All-Star at full forward.

Elsewhere, Monaghan’s Linda Martin bagged her first award as goalkeeper, while Cora Courtney collected her third All-Star.

Munster champions, Kerry, are represented by full back, Aislinn Desmond and Armagh’s young up and coming star, Aimee Mackin rounds out the selection as corner forward on the 2015 All-Star selection.

Waterford’s brilliant young forward, Aileen Wall, was selected as the Intermediate Player’s Player of the Year on the night, whilst Louth’s goal machine, Kate Flood, was selected as the 2015 Junior Player’s Player of the Year on a night when Cavan’s Abby Brady entered the LGFA Hall of Fame.

Other awards on the night saw Tyrone’s Róisín Devlin awarded the Ulster Young Player of the Year, Kerry’s Fay O’Donoghue picked up the Munster Young Player of the Year, Emily Coakley of Wexford scooped the honour for Leinster while Maria Reilly of Mayo was Connacht’s Young Player of the Year.
