A Colorado couple managed to shed a combined weight of 280lbs after making a decision which changed both of their lives.
Back in 2011, Robert Foster weighed 327lbs while his wife Jessica weighed 287lbs. They were both caught in a rut.
Jessica told Fox 31 that by March 2012, she had had enough: “I adore my kids and I love my husband very much, but there was that point I hated myself so much. I wasn’t giving them the full me because I was disgusted”.
The following week, she started going to Zumba classes. Robert wasn’t so keen on exercising but did take up tennis and made changes to his diet.
Within weeks Jessica had lost 14lbs which encouraged her to do more. By December, both of them had signed up for a 5km run.
This is where things really took off. Spurred on by the fact the Jessica got a better time than him, Robert started taking training seriously. A few months later he did his first 10-mile run and earlier this year he completed a marathon.
He ended up losing 160lbs and is now planning to go to medical school while she lost 120lbs and has gotten her confidence back.
“I love myself,” Jessica revealed. “I like what I’m seeing in the mirror. I know there’s some work to still be done, but I’m such a different personal than I was before”.
