A couple who met as teenagers and have spent their entire lives together have revealed what they think is the secret to a happy marriage. Maurice (102) and Helen Kaye (101), from Bournemouth, met in 1929 and married after four years of courting.
According to BBC News, Helen was working in her mother's shop when she first met Maurice whose father wanted to sell goods to the store. Maurice ended up spending three hours in the shop chatting to Helen.
The couple have two surviving children, seven grandchildren and six great-granchildren. They still live independently and the BBC reports that they still play bridge regularly.
Mrs Kaye said: "You mustn't be hard on each other. And if you have to give in a little bit, you give in a little bit." The couple said the secret to a happy marriage was being tolerant of each other and being willing to "forgive and forget".
