#COYBIG: Twitter reacts to the news that Ireland’s World Cup dream is over

So close but yet so far.

Irish football

It’s all over.

Hopes were high that we would see the Irish football team head to Russia for the World Cup next year but it’s not to be.

It was an emotional night for the second leg of Ireland V Denmark and Twitter was ablaze with everything from fear to elation to downright disbelief.

That goal from Shane Duffy started us on a winning streak.

A beautiful save from Darren Randolph. And again.

The fear and panic that it would all go wrong. Nerves = gone.

Then things went down hill fast when Denmark took a significant lead within the space of three minutes, thanks to Eriksen and Christensen.

Edge of your seat for the second half before faith was lost when Denmark’s Eriksen scored his second goal of the night.

Then he made it a hat-trick with overall score 4-1 and that was that.

There was a fifth goal from Bendtner but best not dwell on the crushing overall result. Ireland will have to look forward to Qatar in 2022, COYBIG.
