There’s a small section on Reddit called Today I F*cked Up… and it’s fair to say it’s a hub of awkward stories that would give you nightmares. Today’s tale comes courtesy of an 18-year old virgin who had to go to her first gynaecologist appointment. As her mum was busy working, and she needed someone to sign her health insurance forms, her dad agreed to take her to the hospital. What happened next is truly horrifying. Relaying the details in full, by throwawayfriend50 writes: “This happened just this morning. I turned 18 a few weeks ago, and my mom insisted that I go for my first ever gyno check up. I'm still a virgin, and nothing has ever really been wrong with me, so I'd never gone until today. A few of my friends have gone and they all tell me that the instruments are really cold, you have to get completely naked, and overall it's just really weird. I'm a pretty private person, and only one guy has seen me partially naked before, so I was scared. That day my mom was really busy with work, so she couldn't take me. I just needed a parent to come to fill out the paperwork, insurance, etc. and unfortunately that left only my dad to take me. We got to the doctor's office, and I got called in while my dad was in the waiting room. When I got in the doctor was really nice, greeted me, talked to me for a bit, and made me feel pretty relaxed. I wasn't so nervous anymore, but I was dreadfully waiting for the part where I had to get on the chair completely naked. I thought I heard the doctor say something along the lines of, "I'm going to step outside for a few minutes. There's a curtain in the back of the room where you can undress. Just hop up on the chair when you're finished, and I'll knock to see if you're ready." I was so nervous that as soon as the doctor left I scurried behind the curtain, and started to undress. All the while I was thinking that it was weird there was a curtain I needed to change behind, when I was just going to be naked in the chair. So now I'm sitting on a cold chair, completely naked, with both feet up in the stirrups, and I hear a loud knock. I squeamishly say, "Come in!" The door handle turns and in walks the doctor with a look of horror on his face, as my dad is only inches behind him. For what felt like minutes they both stood in the doorway wide-eyed. It must have really only been a second or two though. I gasped, and started making incoherent noises trying to tell them to get out. My dad got a clear on view of not only my naked body, but both legs wide open. It didn't help at all that I was shaven downstairs too. The doctor came back in and apologized profusely. Well, it turns out that there's a paper robe dispenser behind the curtain, and you're supposed to wear the paper gown for the exam. It also turns out the doctor was going to bring my dad back to talk to the both of us about certain visits and exams my insurance plan covers. He even stated this when he left the room, but my nerves got the better of me and I didn't listen very well. The rest of the exam went well, and the ride home was painfully awkward. I still haven't really talked or made eye contact with my dad, but it will probably pass soon. It was all my fault for sure. Hopefully next time I will listen a lot better.” We have no words for her.
