Derry Girls’ Nicola Coughlan shares images of concrete block that crashed through her ceiling

“I had an extremely lucky escape.”

Nicola Coughlan has shared images of the concrete block that she said crashed through her ceiling last night.

The Derry Girls actor said that she was standing in the bathroom of her London flat just minutes before a large chunk of concrete fell from the roof above.

Coughlan, who plays Claire in the comedy series, added that the event has “totally shaken” her.

“So last night a concrete block crashed through my ceiling seconds after I’d been standing under it,” she wrote in a Twitter thread.

“I had an extreme lucky escape (…) It was so fucking scary I can’t explain, I’m still totally shaken by it (…) I’m a good tenant, I pay my rent on time and I had nothing to do with causing this issue.”

The National Landlord Association have since responded to Coughlan’s tweets, saying that they have been in touch with the landlord and “that they are dealing with the issue and it will be resolved as quickly as possible.”

This comes less than a week after Derry Girls‘ Siobhán McSweeney, who plays Sister Michael in the hit Channel 4 show, issued a warning about the dangers of double cube plug adaptors.

She said that the adaptor had fallen out of the plug socket slightly and started a fire, destroying her entire flat.

“Take them off the walls now and put them in the bin,” she said.
