Some days, you come across a truly wonderful story on the internet that just makes you take a moment and appreciate basic human kindness (and the power of a social media campaign).

For us, a story of how Disney and Lucasfilm made one devoted Star Wars fan’s dream come true this week was that story.

Thirty-two-year-old Daniel Fleetwood from Texas was diagnosed with a terminal cancer known as spindle cell sarcoma. In July, doctors told him that he had just two months to live and told People Magazine that he didn’t think he was going to last until the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens on December 18th.

A massive social media campaign got underway using the hashtag #ForceForDaniel in a bid to get Disney and Lucasfilm to show him the film earlier – and it worked.

Daniel’s wish was granted and his wife took to Facebook to share the happy news.

Wanted to edit something: To all our wonderful supporters, friends, family and awesome strangers: Daniels final dream…
