A new study has found that 45% of those in a relationship still regularly text other potential partners.
According to the Mirror Online, the Computers in Human Behavior study surveyed 354 people on their 'backburner' relationships, or those they are not currently with but talk to sometimes because there is a spark.
Approximately 45% confessed to texting their back-up lovers regularly, while 37% admitted chatting on social media.
A further 13% revealed that they called the person now and again and when the same study was applied to those in committed relationships, no difference was found between singles and couples.
