There’s nothing like a greasy plate of chips when you have a hankering for some junk food however teens in Asia are taking their desire for fries a little too far. They’ve evented a bizarre new trend known as “potato parties” where they binge on trayfuls of chips.
The Irsh Sun reports that teens are spending hundreds of euros buying French fries in fast food restaurants before posting pictures of themselves gorging on the chips online.

The trend is believed to have first started in Japan when a McDonald’s promotion saw the price of chips plummet back in November. Since then, teens all over Asia and South Korea have been throwing over-the-top “potato parties” in a bid to outdo each other.
In the pictures, youngsters are posing with up to twenty trays worth of chips and, according to reports, groups of teens are being kicked out of restaruants for ordering the massive quantities of food.

Each portion of large fries makes up a quarter of an average person’s calorie intake, so it’s no wonder then that health experts are already issuing warnings about the weird trend.
