Motorists are being warned to take extra care on the roads this morning as a nationwide Status Orange Alert is in place due to dense fog and frost.
Met Éireann have put the alert in place, with motorists across the country and particularly in the midlands being advised to be extra vigilant while driving this morning.
The national forecaster has advised that the fog is “dense in places” with “some icy patches”.
Drivers are reminded to use their fog lights this morning so that the car is visible to other road users.
The fog is due to lift later this morning and it will be a bright day with sunny spells.
