Dublin radio station FM 104 cancelled a promotional event tonight shortly after it got underway, as staff of the station were allegedly attacked in Blanchardstown.
Staff of the ‘The FM 104 Phone Show’, a late-night phone-in show on the station were out of the studio as part of an annual Easter Egg Giveaway when they were subjected to “intimidation and violence” during a visit to Blanchardstown.

Adrian Kennedy, host of the show, took to the airwaves to explain what had happened and slammed those responsible, explaining that the promotion was something the station had carried out every year, and saying: “it was never a problem until now, until little scumbags decided to attack us”.
Speaking on air, Kennedy explained that that co-host Jeremy Dixon and female promotional staff for the station had bricks thrown at them and station vehicles and that the event had to be pulled early for health and safety reasons.

Representatives for FM104 took to both the Twitter page for the station and for the show to explain that the event had to be cancelled, and Kennedy said he believed it would be the end of the event entirely, telling one caller: “I’d love to say we’ll be able to do it again, but we probably won’t.” He added: “This is the sad reality of the city we now live in.”
A caller who went by the name of Joey came on air after the event was cancelled to claim he was one of those responsible for the attacks. When other callers urged the host to report the number to the Gardaí, he said: “I know if we report it to the guards it will just go into the river and that’s it. I’m not naïve enough to think they’ll get these guys.”
