The hopeless romantic planned to descend in front of his partner’s window as she woke on Saturday morning and serenade her with a song then ask her to marry him.
Things didn’t exactly go to plan for the Dutchman as the rented crane smashed through neighbouring houses.
The incident occurred in the centre of IJsselstein and thankfully no one was injured.
The building was damaged after attempts from another much larger crane failed to rectify the fallen crane and has since been declared unsafe and six apartments were evacuated.
It wasn’t all doom and gloom however, as the lady said ‘yes’ and the pair travelled to Paris to celebrate the good news.
