Eight Movie Best Friends We Wish We Had

We all need a Thomas J.

Her

We all know the value of a best friend, and we’re some pretty lucky ladies to know that our friend just happens to be the best you could ask for really (don’t even try argue with us).

Even then, some films really pull out all the stops for life lessons on friendships and we’ve had some favourites along the way. We’re not even going to say who topped our list, but we’d share our last Rolo with any of these guys.

Thomas J and Vada… My Girl

We don’t think there are too many guy friends out there that would put up with our temper tantrums, listen to our ‘genius’ plans to run off with another man and then go on a hunt for misplaced jewellery.

No film ever will beat the heart-breaking moment Vada has to say goodbye to the best friend she’ll ever have at the wake.

Thomas J had all the qualities of a real friend, and he was adorable to boot.

Seth and Evan… Superbad

Chances are you have a best friend who was just as awkward and painfully nerdy as you throughout your teenage years. Maybe these guys didn’t rock the blue eyeshadow, and *shudder* the gel strands of hair either side of the face, but they rock the bromance code.

We just want to go to a rooftop and shout out our love… what, just us?

CC and Hilary… Beaches

They may have been from different backgrounds, but the childhood friends prove time, distance and boys only ever play second fiddle to your best friend.

“Be sure to keep in touch, C.C., O.K.?”

“Well sure, we’re friends aren’t we?”

You know it’s the real deal when Wind Beneath Your Wings makes you cry into your tissues.

Best friends ever.

Romy and Michele… Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion

Only a real best friend would know the importance of faking it ‘til you make it. So when these ladies prepare for a 10 year reunion, it’s hard not to love the effort they put into making their past look so much better. A real best friend doesn’t judge when one (or the both of you) are acting a little crazy.

We’d be happy to have a Romy or a Michele in our lives… only if it’s so we can do that dance.

Woody and Buzz… Toy Story

Every friendship has its rivalries, and we can’t help feeling a little jealousy every now and then. But Woody knows Buzz always has his back, and that’s good enough for us.

Too many lessons to learn from a film that brought us ‘You’ve Got a Friend in Me’– but even after a fight, Buzz comes to Andy’s rescue. The original bromance. LOVE.

Gordie Lechance and Chris Chambers… Stand by Me

Gordie’s going through a rough year since his brother’s death, and Chris’ family problems are the town’s gossip, but one thing that keeps both of these boys going is each other. From their misguided adventures, girl talks to playing dares, these boys prove a best friend gets you through anything… even discovering some gruesome things in life.

It’s also never a bad idea to have a friend who tells you exactly what you need to hear. Let’s just hope they’re not as blunt as Chris…

Annie and Lillian… Bridesmaids

If a friendship can survive that cookie incident, and you’re still invited to the wedding, you know you’re a real friend. Annie may be a little crazy, but it’s still the only advice Lillian needs on her ‘designer’ wedding dress.

Only a real friend could laugh at this. And then promise you somehow it’ll be better. Trust us, you wouldn’t believe anyone else if they told you it was going to work out. Annie’s our main lady. Screw Paris, she had the box of gold.

Harry and Lloyd… Dumb and Dumber

A best friend always has a back-up plan. There may be some bumps along the way, but just likeLloyd, you’ll always find a way to get your friendship back on track.

Real friends know it doesn’t always have to be perfect, you just need to make the effort… and maybe work on your high fives. You guys!
